Stuff about Bob...

Canadian born, Scottish raised and still (funny enough), a UK citizen, I have lived in the U.S. since 1970. I started playing guitar at age of 10 and have always had a strong passion for melody. My musical interests range from jazz fusion to The Great American Songbook. To date, I have 5 CD projects on the market and I am currently working on my 6th.

Recently, I've focused my songwriting abilities on writing songs in the style of The Great American Songbook - what people might refer to as the Tin Pan Alley style of writing. I suppose I'm just taken by the wonderful melodic and lyrical structure from this era - 1900 - 1950s. Some may call this style of music overly romantic, idealist, and even mushy, - and they may be right - but there's just something about the innocence of this era of American songwriting.

This true love for early 20th century popular music actually only took hold of me about 5 years ago. I remember the exact moment. I was watching an early Betty Hutton movie — a pseudo comedy/musical film called "The Stork Club." I was so amazed at Betty's charm, bubbly personality, the songs she sang, and of course, her unmatched performing talents. So, I excitedly embarked on my magical, musical journey to learn, study, and play the timeless and wonderful melodies of Betty's era. Needless to say, I was totally hooked.

My next CD project, which I've temporarily titled "These Few Moments," will consist of 12 new original songs written in the American Songbook style. I can't wait to play them for you so make sure you check back, once in a while. :)
