The moment I first watched The Pacific, I was struck by the raw honesty of the soldier’s experience. The series tells a story of hardship and hope, focusing on a soldier who writes letters to his true love back home. This powerful narrative inspired my new single, "Letter From The War," which will be released in early 2026 as part of my upcoming album Contemplation. This song captures the emotional depth of those war stories and the strength found in love during times of conflict.
The Inspiration Behind the Song
I have always been drawn to folk and americana music because of their storytelling power. When I saw The Pacific, I connected deeply with the soldier’s letters—each one a piece of his heart sent across the ocean. These letters are more than just words; they are a lifeline, a testament to courage and vulnerability amid the chaos of war.
In my song writing, I wanted to honor that spirit. The lyrics reflect the soldier’s perspective, his longing, and the hope that keeps him going. The guitar work is simple yet evocative, designed to echo the quiet moments of reflection that soldiers might have experienced. This approach stays true to the traditions of folk and americana music, where storytelling and emotion take center stage.
Bringing Military Stories to Life Through Music
War stories often focus on battles and strategy, but the human side—the letters, the memories, the personal sacrifices—is just as important. My goal with "Letter From The War" is to bring those intimate moments to life through music.
By blending acoustic guitar melodies with heartfelt lyrics, I aim to create a song that resonates with anyone who has experienced separation or loss. This song also pays tribute to the many untold stories of soldiers who found strength in writing and music during their service.
The Role of Guitar and Song Writing in Storytelling
The guitar has always been my companion in crafting songs that tell stories. For "Letters From The War," I chose a warm, resonant tone that supports the emotional weight of the lyrics without overpowering them. This balance is crucial in song writing that deals with sensitive themes like war and love.
I drew inspiration from artists like Bob McCarroll, whose work in americana music captures the essence of personal and historical narratives. His influence helped me focus on authenticity and simplicity, ensuring the song feels genuine and relatable.

Each of the included tracks, and several being cover songs, tells a story, often inspired by real-life experiences and historical events.
