Soundscapes in Ethereal Jazz

With Landscapes, I return to where I began.​

This new collection of nine original ethereal jazz compositions and one traditional melody were inspired by the natural beauty of Scotland—primarily Quarrier's Homes, Dunoon—the coastal town where I was raised—and the beautiful Firth of Clyde. The rolling hills, mist over the water, shifting skies, and quiet stillness of these places have stayed with me for all the years of my life. This album is my way of translating those memories into sound.

Built around guitar, fretless bass, percussion, and piano, the music moves gently but with intention. The fretless bass sings. The piano adds light and space. Textural elements weave in and out, creating a sense of atmosphere rather than urgency. It’s jazz, but it breathes. It lingers.

As my 20th CD release since 2003, Landscapes marks a new creative direction—more spacious, more reflective, and deeply personal. It’s not just a collection of songs. It’s a return home.
